Situated on the magnificent western Algarve coast, the popular and picturesque resort of Alvor is an easy 71 km drive (44 miles)  from Faro airport via the A22 motorway. A charming old fishing village lies at the centre of this much loved resort, which has expanded to become a small town with modern suburbs, a golf club and four-star hotel developments.

 

There are numerous bars, reasonably priced snack bars and excellent restaurants in Alvor's narrow cobbled streets and one of the Algarve's finest sandy beaches is just a few minutes walk from the harbour.

 

Breathtaking scenery, a wide range of holiday activities, a great climate, a slower pace of life and Portuguese hospitality all combine to make Alvor and the Western Algarve coast a most enjoyable holiday destination.

DUNAS DO ALVOR COMPLEX

 

Ideal for couples, mature adults and families, the Dunas do Alvor is a modern and stylish holiday complex close to the beach and resort centre. Guests may relax on sun beds and enjoy the use of a lovely swimming pool surrounded by spacious sun terraces. There are bars, cafes, restaurants and shops within the Dunas too, making this an ideal choice for a relaxing holiday.

CHANGEOVER & HOLIDAY DURATION

 

July - August: the guest changeover day is Saturday, but only in July and August. The rental period must be a whole number of weeks, but only in July and August.

 

 September - June: flexible terms apply to the other 10 months of the year. So you may start and finish your holiday on any days convenient to yourselves, possibly benefiting from lower-cost mid-week flights. Also, subject to the minimum rent terms described below, your holiday duration needn't be an exact number of weeks (i.e. 7, 14 or 21 nights etc.), in which case nightly rates will apply. Please see the examples below.

 

RENTAL RATES (£)

The rents are for the apartment per week or per night. The apartment sleeps a maximum of 4 people.

Examples of rent calculations:

Example 1: The apartment is required for 14 nights, arriving on Friday 29th May and departing on Friday 12th June. The rent will be calculated as:

                    3 nights @ £39 per night (May rate)

          Plus: 11 nights @ £50 per night (June rate)

                   Total rent for holiday: £667

Example 2: The apartment is required for 9 nights, arriving on Friday 29th May and departing on Sunday 7th June. The rent will be for 10 nights, calculated as:

                    3 nights @ £39 per night (May rate)

          Plus:  7 nights @ £50 per night (June rate)

                    Total rent for holiday: £467

Example 3: If the apartment is required for 10 nights, arriving on Friday 29th May and departing on Monday 8th June, the rent will be the same as in the second example, i.e. £467.

ENTERTAINMENT

 

Some  of the local Alvor pubs, bars and restaurants provide  entertainment, including British and Irish soloists, bands, Karaoke and traditional Portuguese Fado music.  Although there are late night bars in Alvor, the resort mainly caters for couples, mature adults and families. There are night clubs at the Praia da Rocha resort, Portimao.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

 

Unless you prefer to hire a car at the airport, we shall be pleased to arrange your airport transfers. We recommend the reliable and reasonably priced airport transfer service operated by Alvor-based Carlos and Maria Santana -  50 euros each way for a party of four people with luggage in one of their spacious, modern people carrier vehicles.

The apartment's ideally situated for both the town and beach , only taking 5 or 10 minutes to reach both. ESTRADA DA BARCA, ALVOR

 

The Dunas do Alvor is situated at the Rossio Grande end of Estrada da Barca. You can see the ivory tiled courtyards, light green condominium roof tops and swimming pool on the satellite image. If you intend to hire a car at the airport, click for directions and enter Faro Airport. Zoom in and out to see street and road maps on this useful interactive Google map facility.

DIRECTIONS FOR DRIVERS (FROM THE MOTORWAY)

 

At the roundabout in Alvor (the Rotunda de Alvor) drive straight on, taking the third exit (street name: Rossio Grande.) On the left-hand corner of the roundabout exit there is a prominently situated pharmacy. After about  two hundred metres take the first turning on your right into the one-way street Estrada da Barca. The entrances to the Dunas do Alvor are on your left, immediately after a cafe, bank, pharmacy and two shops.

If you need to return your hire car to Faro Airport after your holiday with a full tank of fuel there is a large filling station on the main roundabout leading into the Airport Terminal.
